Copenhaver Castle Auction Block - About the only thing interested buyers can’t take with them is the view. The rest of Copenhaver Castle, perched on Camelback Mountain above Phoenix, will be sold to the highest bidder. Looking for some jewelry, interesting artwork, or maybe a new abode? The 20-room mansion, complete with stone walls, towering turrets and a moat, is an eight-level residence with secret passageways, a dungeon and a spa big enough for 20 of your closest friends.

The castle was built in the 1970s by Mort Copenhaver.The orthodontist lost the castle in bankruptcy proceedings in the late 1980s.

On the housing market for more than a year, the castle, which is not ADA compliant, is a “fixer-upper.”

In the fall, a co-listing agent on the property estimated a $750,000 to $1 million renovation would transform the home.
