Robber foiled by coffee pot - An armed robber got a hot surprise when he tried to take down a Tim Horton's clerk in Springfield. It happened around 1:30 am Thursday at the store on North Street. The clerk says she was making hot tea by the counter when the suspect walked into the store, put a brown plastic bag on the counter, and demanded cash.
“He kept telling me to open the front register. And I kept saying hold on, wait a minute, wait a minute. And I was walking toward the register and he said c'mon honey right now. Open the register, open the register,” the clerk said in her 911 call. drive through robbery Pa,
That's when the clerk sprang into action, grabbing a pot of hot coffee and throwing it onto the suspect as he was running away. Police watched surveillance video of the attempted robbery. They say the suspect was following the clerk around the store until she grabbed the hot coffee to fight him off. The clerk detailed the ordeal in the 911 call. 8035 McKnight Road Pittsburgh Pa,
“Did he get anything?” asked the dispatcher.
“I pulled at the register and then I started looking at his hands. I saw he didn't have anything but a knife so I'm going to take my chance with him. So as soon as he turned his head for one second, I ran back over to... I had just brewed two pots of hot coffee. I grabbed that coffee and I told him you're not getting nothing and I threw that hot coffee on him and he jetted out of here running,” the clerk said.
The suspect is described as a white man in his 40’s, 5'5" to 5'8" and 140-160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black coat with black and white fur around the hood, blue jeans and black boots. He was also wearing a black scarf around his face.
