Florida airport shooting,According to Action News Jax, police went after three men in a white Ford Crown Victoria in connection to a carjacking reported one week ago.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office SWAT team were called in and they attempted to reach out to the driver and the other two passengers.
However, the motorist tried to run over the officer making contact, at which point he opened fire. The incident took place in the Jacksonville airport parking garage at roughly 2:20 p.m.

"Their fear of the detectives at the scene was this is a subject that had already attempted to strike two other officers," Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Chief Tom Hackney argues.
"The public safety is at risk. That is why the use of deadly force was employed," he adds.
One of the men in the vehicle, a 17-year-old passenger was wounded in the altercation. He has been arrested along with a second man in a Northside apartment.
They drove for six miles (9.65 km) to the apartment building, where they were found and arrested. A third man, 20-year-old Rodney Addison remains on the loose.
NBC station WTLV of Jacksonville informs that there might be a connection between the airport chase and shooting and a prior incident in which guns have been fired near a school.
A separate shooting prompted a Code Red alert followed by a lockdown at Highlands Elementary school in Jacksonville.
By 3:20 p.m. on Wednesday, the area was cleared and there were no known injuries, a spokesperson for the Sheriff's department said,Florida airport shooting.
