Sodus Boat Crash - Sodus Boat Crash, Sodus Bay Boat Crash: Teen Charged With Boating While Intoxicated After Crashing Into Breakwall, A teenager was charged with boating while intoxicated after he crashed his boat into the breakwall at Sodus Bay.

According to CNN, Tyler Ocwieja was driving the boat on Sodus Bay after a fourth of July fireworks show. The 19-year-old crashed the boat into a concrete breakwall and injured several of his friends.

The Henrietta Post reports that all three passenger’s were thrown out of the boat and over the breakwall into Lake Ontario.

One of the passengers suffered an ankle injury and had to be taken to the hospital. The two other passengers in the boat received minor injuries.

It’s unclear how fast Ocwieja was driving at the tie of the crash but deputies said that the 19-year-old was charged for driving more than five miles per hour within 100 feet of shore.

Ocwieja was also charged with reckless endangerment, reckless operation of a vessel, and boating while intoxicated. Ocwieja was released after the incident and will return to Sodus Bay to face charges at a later date.

Sadly, this isn’t the only Fourth of July accident to make the news today.

More than 20 people were injured in California after a fireworks display tipped over and shot explosives into the crowd. A young boy was also killed over the weekend when he was accidentally hit with a parade float.
