'Dying bride' Indicted on Fraud Grand Larceny Charges - A former Montgomery woman, Jessica Vega Cancer Charged, who maintained she was terminally ill prior to her wedding, and received thousands of dollars from residents and others in the Mid-Hudson region, has been arrested and indicted on six felony and one misdemeanor charge involving fraud, grand larceny and criminal possession of a forged instrument.

"By pretending to have a terminal illness, Vega inexcusably took advantage of the community's hearts and minds, and profited off of their generosity," State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said. In the spring 2010, Vega claimed she had terminal cancer and had only a few months to live. She asked for a dream wedding and received wishes from a number of people and businesses, She was married in May 2010 and went to Aruba for her honeymoon with expenses paid by members of the community touched by her story.
