Shanghai Los Angeles Kitten - A 3-month-old kitten is being well-cared for Thursday after surviving a nearly 2,700-mile journey by sea from Shanghai, Kitten Travels 6,500 miles from Shanghai to L.A., China to Los Angeles without food or water.
The orange and white male kitten was discovered inside a freight container that arrived at a business in Compton from Wednesday. The kitten “ate a good meal last night and slept soundly,” DACC Director Marcia Mayeda said.

Staff and volunteers have named the kitten “Ni Hao,” which is Chinese for “hello.”
Ni Hao is under quarantine and is being monitored as an animal entering the United States from another country. Officials say its unlikely he has received any vaccinations due to his young age.
