New reports claim that Lovato booted a rapping duo out of the "X Factor" auditions in Greensboro, N.C., for their lyrics about "bath salts."
"She wasn't having any of it," a source confirmed to E! News. "She said 'It's really irresponsible to be rapping about drugs in front of kids.' Then they tried to make excuses and Demi said, 'You talked about bath salts, I heard you.'"
According to the source, Lovato told the young rappers to leave the stage, adding that the rest of the judges completely backed her.
Bath salts are a synthetic powder, which reportedly have the same effects of crystal meth and cocaine, and are often known to produce dangerous side effects.
We're not shocked that Lovato would have such a strong reaction to the rappers' lyrics as the 19-year-old "Skyscraper" singer has been extremely open about her use of drugs and alcohol, which she said she used to self-medicate while in the throes of depression and battling eating disorders. In November 2010, the singer entered rehab to deal with her issues, and since completing three months of treatment she's gone on record to talk about her commitment to recovery and sobriety.
Lovato wasn't impressed by the rapper, but the show's panel of judges was pleasantly surprised when a contestant with an impressive lineage auditioned for them.
"This guy came on and told the judges a story about how his grandmother was in the movies and after they'd been talking for a few minutes, they finally realized that Ray Charles was his grandfather. The judges were massively surprised," reports The Hollywood Reporter.
