Saggy Pants Crackdown in Calumet City

Saggy pants crackdown in Calumet City - School leaders in Calumet City are considering tougher penalties on students who wear so-called "sagging pants."

District 215 board members met Monday night to discuss adding sagging pants to a list of activities considered "immoral or obscene behavior," which could result in suspension and possible expulsion.  Saggy pants crackdown in Calumet City,

The proposed policy would affect students at Thornton Fractional High School North and South campuses.

Currently, students whose pants fall below the waist are written up for a dress code violation, and their parents are notified.

Most parents say the proposal is appropriate and sets standards.  Saggy pants crackdown in Calumet City,

"I really approve of it. I think it's correct," said parent Esther Jacome.

"... I don't think they'll be able to go out in the world with their pants hanging down, so I think we should be preparing them for where they're going to go in life," said another parent, Glenn Bone.

The school board could give final approval to the measure at its meeting in May.
