She believes she may have been killed if she told her ‘brothers in arms’ the truth about her gender identity.
The former soldier who now goes by the name Kristin Beck, in an interview wih CNN’s Anderson Cooper said that there’s a chance if they took it badly he may be dead today. She writes about her tribulation in a new book entitled: “Warrior Princess: A US Navy SEAL’s Journey to Coming out Transgender.”
The former Navy Seal now works as a military consultant in the Tampa area. Chris Beck, her former name was deployed 13 times, including to Iraq and Afghanistan and earned a Bronze Star and Purple Heart during her career.
Prior to his retiring in 2011, Beck rose to senior chief of the Navy SEALs and began her “true” life as a woman. She said she fought for 20 years for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. She wanted some happiness. She further said that since grade school she has felt trapped in the wrong body.
She went on saying that there’s a lot of prejudice out there. There’s been a lot of transgender people who are killed for prejudice, for hatred. When the book came out, some amazing support and some amazing praises, but also some pretty amazing bigotry and hatred.
After months of deployment, she said she would “purge” by wearing Victoria’s Secret lingerie when back home on leave. She was quoted as saying: “No one ever met the real me.”
Beck continues she doesn’t need people to love, or even like, her. But she don’t want you to beat her up and kill her. She said you don’t have to like her, she don’t care. But don’t kill her.
