Super Bowl Ring John Macaulay

Super Bowl Ring John Macaulay - Former NFL offensive lineman John Macaulay was a member of the San Francisco 49ers 1984 Super Bowl team, but he recently almost lost the hardware to prove it.

You know what they say about airport bathrooms? Actually, nothing besides you shouldn’t leave your bags unattended, but Macaulay left his prized possession in one after a recent flight into San Jose Airport.

According to the San Jose Mercury News, Macaulay was reunited with his Super Bowl ring on Tuesday after a maintenance worker discovered it while cleaning.

“I didn’t know what it was,” the worker, Arra Daquina, said, “but it was big and heavy.”

Daquina then turned the ring over to another retired employee who volunteers at the airport’s information booth. He did not know what to do with the ring, so he brought it to the airport’s lost-and-found staff. From there, someone noticed that Macaulay’s name was engraved on the side. Within minutes, the former offensive guard came searching for it.

According to Sal Pizzaro of the Mercury News, Macaulay was “in awe” of how quickly he was able to recover the hardware. We know Super Bowl rings are worth a pretty penny — otherwise Vladimir Putin wouldn’t bother stealing them — so kudos to the airport employees for being honest enough to return it. Who says there are no good people left in the world?
